We named the restaurant Moga, which means ‘modern girl’ in Japanese. The name seemed fitting to pay homage to the female owner and her mission to bring authentic Japanese cuisine to a predominately western culture.
Moga were Japanese women of the 1920’s and 1930’s who adopted Western dress. This become our main inspiration for the brand, from the little flick on the M of the logo taken from the ‘bob’ haircuts of the time to using vintage Japanese posters of Moga’s. This east meets west of the 20’ and 30’ was also applied to the finishes and furniture of the interiors.
